It’s almost that time of year when beautifully lit diyas and lanterns adorn every home in India to celebrate the festival of lights. Diwali is also a time to be mindful of noise and air pollution from crackers and be as eco-friendly as possible.
Drawing rangolis during Diwali is a widely followed tradition in India. Here’s how you too can celebrate an eco-friendly Diwali, with our latest tutorial on how to make a mandala rangoli art using brush pens!
What you will need:
- Camel Brush Pens
- Camlin Drawing Pencil
- Paper
- Eraser
Step 1: Sketching the Mandala
Start by roughly sketching the mandala using Camlin Drawing Pencils on a sheet of paper. You can use the darker variants (B to 10B) of Camlin Drawing Pencils. Use a round lid to trace a circle. Once the circle is drawn, start drawing different shapes repeating within this circle. You don't have to worry about these designs not looking perfect—simply draw various shapes to make them look interesting.
Step 2: Start Colouring with Brush Pens
Now colour and trace the mandala using Camel Brush Pens. Camel offers two variants: Artist Brush Pens and Brush Pens. For this project, use the Brush Pens, which provide beautiful and translucent watercolour effects on paper without the need for water, palette, brush, or additional colours. Start with light and even strokes first to get acquainted with the brush pen's flexible, brush-like tip. These pens offer vibrant, pigmented colours in a convenient format, perfect for adding detail to your mandala
Step 3: Blending
Keep colouring and mixing different colours to make your mandala bright and colourful. Let it dry completely before you move on to the next step.
Step 4: Draw the Borders
Using a black brush pen, draw the borders of the shapes to highlight the designs. Once you finish painting the basic colour schemes, give your painting the final finishing touches. Add details like dots, lines, etc. using the black brush pen.
Step 5: Drawing Dangles
Get creative with your brush pens. Draw lots of curvy lines (dangles) across the paper. Try to make them look graceful and elegant. Use your brush pens to colour in these dangles with different shades. When you're done colouring, let your artwork dry completely. Your mandala rangoli art is ready for display!
Now that you have learned how to create mandala rangoli using brush pens, get ready to unleash your creativity this Diwali. Why not gather your family and friends for a fun art session? With Camel Brush Pens and Camlin Drawing Pencils, you have all the tools to make this Diwali truly special. So grab your supplies, let your imagination soar, and create your unique mandala rangoli today!
