When it comes to art and painting, there is always a new ‘landscape’ that can be covered when learning. However, painting an urban landscape can look like a daunting task, even if it really isn’t! With the right technique for drawing an urban landscape, your task will become easier.
What you will need:
- Camlin Brush
- Camel Canvas
- Camel Premium Poster Colours
- Palette
Here are steps to draw a cityscape that will help you with this project
Step 1
Start out by painting the basic shapes, structures as well as proportions of these structures.
Step 2
Once you are satisfied with the basic structure of your painting, begin to refine it and highlight the parts that you want to bring to the viewer’s notice.
Step 3
Once you have refined the basic structure, start working on the underpainting. Here is where you can build up the values while also adding some details.
Step 4
Observe every building, every street and corner in your painting and add the colours that will further give each element in your painting a distinct look, as shown in the image below.
Step 5
Once you are happy with the under-painting, you can work further on the shadows and other darker shades appearing in your painting.
Step 6
Next, using white, add lighter shades to your painting. You can also add trees to your painting for a little greenery.
